I have always been caught up in a love affair with performance art, strong narratives and genuine emotion.
For me, these elements are imperative in my process. I specialize in human-centered design, strategic planning and integrating culturally responsive frameworks that drive community engagement. I bring ideas to life through design, program development and community impact.
After 15 years building and developing various types of programming, curriculum and content through a variety of multidisciplinary forms; my goal is to illustrate and execute the vision you have for your organization.
ACCESS
I provide an accessible and diverse palate of meaningful and experiential-based programming thatinvests in opportunities for my clients to engage with different disciplines, perspectives, backgrounds and processes. Diversity in my program offerings naturally leads to more inclusive and collaborative experiences and opens doors to new clients, communities and organizations
AUTHENTICITY
I believe that building genuine relationships takes time and trust. It is a major source of how I develop consistent, human-centered design and culturally responsive frameworks for my clients. The stronger the relationships grow, the stronger the impact on the community.
SUSTAINABILITY
Creating a strong foundation with my clients has been the anchor in ensuring the programs I develop have a clear
vision and are sustainable for years to come.
LEGACY
During a recent work event, someone inquired about “what I do”. Before I could even answer - another voice, close-by interjected and replied “ Makenzie, is the voice of the future”. This statement stuck with me through the remainder of that event. Ever since then, I have been sitting with myself to really think about the legacy I want to leave with those I collaborate with & how I can take that affirmation spoken into my life, and bring it into fruition.

For over four years, I have spearheaded the Community Partnerships and Programs department at the Canadian Opera Company from the ground up and have been honored to develop and nurture a culture of trust, transparency, and autonomy within my department. My role is primarily responsible for developing and executing the vision for the COC’s community impact, creative partnerships, and program development.
Before my appointment at the COC, I was an educator in both the private and public sector. My portfolio of leadership experience led me to hold former Headship positions within the private sector and various teaching positions with Regina Public School Board, York Region District School Board and the Toronto District School Board.

Meeting you...reinforced my faith in visionary, kind hearted leaders, and its been my emotional fuel not only to continue working on my other culture change projects, but also during challenging clinical days in the OR. I just wanted you...to know that”.
